Hey all! It’s been a bit since I did a tag, so I was excited when Lara a la The Paperback Palace tagged me.
Let’s get started! 😀

A book that was a little slow to start off but really picked up as it went along?
This one has got to be Attachments by Rainbow Rowell. I loved this one, but there was a lot of time spent not only introducing the characters but having us as the reader get emotionally involved. In the end, I was glad that I cared more the characters, but it sure took awhile! ;D

A book that had a rich plot?
I immediately thought of Simon vs. The Homo-Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli because even though this isn’t exactly a very ‘action-y’ book, there is a lot going on. Albertalli spends time not only getting the readers invested in her characters lives, but also having them run around and do lots of different things.

A book you thought was going to be bad but actually turned out quite enjoyable?
This one has got to be A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall. I didn’t have a lot of faith in an interest manuscript turn professional books (lets just look at our track record here…). And while yes, this was not my favorite book, I was surprised by how well planned and fun it was to read!

A sweet sugary book?
OOOO! The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. Even though this is adult fiction, (ADULT?), and had really good character development, in the end it was just really sweet. For anyone who wants a satisfying happy ending.

A book that covered every single element that you enjoy about a book (funny moments, action moments, sad moments, etc)?
First off, I should lay out my favorite aspects of books:
-Awesome secondary characters with lives and backstories
-A romance that the characters don’t change themselves for/has little to do with the action plot
-Mystery. Truly, as long as I don’t know what’s going on everything is great.
The answer to this one is easy: Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs.

A book series that you can kind of turn back to for a little pick me up when you’re feeling down?
How is this even a question? Harry Potter and Queen JK. I also am very fond of Nancy Drew and turn to some of my favorites when I’m suffering from insomnia (but they don’t put me to sleep)!

Your favourite book of this year so far?
It’s got to be Belzhar by Meg Wolitzer. This book hit me at a time when I really needed it. I loved not only the on point magical realism but also the lives of the characters. Sure, it was profoundly sad, but it was able to affect me in a positive way.
