May was an absolute CRAZY month for me. First I had studying for finals, then actually take FINALS, then at the same time, I was in a
wedding and I’m moving! It was a ton of things happening all at once and sadly my more blog was put on the back burner! But now its summer, and blogging is going to become a priority (as soon as I finish unpacking).
Oh but HEY PRINCESS!
Books:
May 2nd was Independent Bookstore day! I loved supporting my local indie bookshops and even participated in a 24 hour Harry Potter Readathon! We read all up into Prisoner of Azkaban.
Everything that Makes You by Moriah McStay
One girl. Two stories. Meet Fiona Doyle. The thick ridges of scar tissue on her face are from an accident twelve years ago. Fiona has notebooks full of songs she’s written about her frustrations, her dreams, and about her massive crush on beautiful uber-jock Trent McKinnon. If she can’t even find the courage to look Trent straight in his beautiful blue eyes, she sure isn’t brave enough to play or sing any of her songs in public. But something’s changing in Fiona. She can’t be defined by her scars anymore.
And what if there hadn’t been an accident? Meet Fi Doyle. Fi is the top-rated female high school lacrosse player in the state, heading straight to Northwestern on a full ride. She’s got more important things to deal with than her best friend Trent McKinnon, who’s been different ever since the kiss. When her luck goes south, even lacrosse can’t define her anymore. When you’ve always been the best at something, one dumb move can screw everything up. Can Fi fight back?

“Hi, I’m the guy who reads your e-mail, and also, I love you . . . “
Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder know that somebody is monitoring their work e-mail. (Everybody in the newsroom knows. It’s company policy.) But they can’t quite bring themselves to take it seriously. They go on sending each other endless and endlessly hilarious e-mails, discussing every aspect of their personal lives.
Meanwhile, Lincoln O’Neill can’t believe this is his job now- reading other people’s e-mail. When he applied to be “internet security officer,” he pictured himself building firewalls and crushing hackers- not writing up a report every time a sports reporter forwards a dirty joke.
When Lincoln comes across Beth’s and Jennifer’s messages, he knows he should turn them in. But he can’t help being entertained-and captivated-by their stories.
By the time Lincoln realizes he’s falling for Beth, it’s way too late to introduce himself.
The Odyssey by Homer
(This was assigned reading from school, but nonetheless remained entertaining. Particularly when my friends started referring to Telemachus as “Telephone”.
My favorite read this month was:
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him.
Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister’s recent death.
When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it’s unclear who saves whom. And when they pair up on a project to discover the “natural wonders” of their state, both Finch and Violet make more important discoveries: It’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself—a weird, funny, live-out-loud guy who’s not such a freak after all. And it’s only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink.
T.V.
As usual, I didn’t watch a lot of T.V. this month! I did start watching Dexter, and even though I really like it, I already know that I’m going to have to watch it in spurts to avoid getting sick of it. I’m pretty much the worst T.V. watcher ever! I just can’t stick with a show.
Movies:
I didn’t go to the movies this month 🙁 which is sad because there were a ton of movies out that I wanted to see! The Women in Gold, Age of Adeline, Pitch Perfect 2, etc. Oh well, there’s always June!
Music:
WELL HELLO BAD BLOOD MUSIC VIDEO! TAYLOR YOU GO! Other than that I started really using Spotify this month and that’s been pretty great! OH and I found a new favorite song (well, it can’t replace the old one) but “Forgiveness” by MADE IN HEIGHTS is freaking fabulous.
