Ever since I became an active Tumblr user, I’ve always been a huge fan of ~aesthetic~ posts, blogs, pictures, etc. Over time, the meaning of this both personally and on the internet has changed a bit. Let’s do some sleuthing with an updated definition… Okay, here’s what I found…
Aesthetic: 1) concerned with pure emotion and sensationas opposed to pure intellectuality 2) concerned with the study of the mind and emotions in relation to the sense of beauty.
I particularly like the concept of the emotions and sensations in relation to visual beauty/imagery. However, in my personal opinion aesthetic on the internet has evolved beyond the visual, to encompass all the senses (visual, auditory, taste, smell, touch) in relation to any sort of emotional experience. I think ~vibes~ is another good way to describe aesthetic, because good/bad/creepy can all be associated with vibes. In addition to all of this, there are also things that just sort of remained associated with aesthetics, and two of these things (in my opinion) are personality types and astrological signs.
I’ve been brainstorming for a while about the different sorts of ways I can produce original and unique content to diversify my blog and readership, and from that the concept of aesthetics came to mind. Now granted this is a brand new sort of post (as have been a lot of my posts lately) so bear with me if this implodes completely, but I’m going to attempt to produce some sort of ~aesthetic~ post, perhaps on a monthly (or maybe seasonal? mood? inspo? all of the above?) basis. Without further ado, here is the June 2016 aesthetic post…
I love mood boards. I love making them, I love looking at them. Pinterest + Tumblr is really just the best combination. I’ve experimented with mood boards in the past, but have always had a heck of a time trying to get them over here to the ‘ol blog. And while I’m not entirely satisfied that this is the end all be all result of what I can create, I’m pretty excited with what I came up with. I call this one june. (Also P.S. check out @twirlingpages on Twitter because she posts really cute mood boards for YA books).

I’m not sure if this will be a regular feature on this post, but I felt as though I should at least address it right now because I took the Meyers Briggs personality test for the first time in four years and 3/4 letters changed! I went from an INTJ to an ENFP. Let me just lay out for you how much of a difference this means for me…
So over the course of four years, the only quality that stayed the same was my iNtuitiveness lol. But, I’ve been reading up on my ENFP’s and man… this is really accurate. First of all, they are the least extroverted of extroverted people, which I thinks fits me pretty well. While I LOVE parties and hanging out with friends, I don’t exactly get my energy from that, and I sometimes like to hide in my room for a solid day to recover from extraneous social events. But my ENFP-ness goes far beyond that! ENFP’s are known for being storytellers (I’m a writer!!) and for flipping between being passionate and lively to relaxed and more ~free spirit like~. Popular hobbies include: writing, creating/appreciating art, playing instruments, enjoying music, participating in theater, and reading. Funny, because those are ALL of my hobbies, just lined up right there. I’d say that this was one of the MOST accurate personality tests I’ve ever taken, at least for the me I am right now.
A yes… zodiac signs/astrology/star sign whatever you want to call it. I can’t remember the first time I every looked up my horoscope but I can tell you that I am not only a scorpio but I am a SCORPIO. Let’s just take a look at the qualities of scorpios… INTENSE // PASSIONATE // INDEPENDENT // STUBBORN. Wow, it looks like we’ve got a winner here, some pretty accurate personal descriptors lol. Anyway, I’d have to say my monthly (or weekly, depends on my mood) horoscopes tend to be about 80% accurate. They’re usually pretty good about relationship/friendship stuff so that’s what I pay attention to the most. Although I should probably be clear that I’m not a 100% believer… I think that star signs are a fun pass time, but they’re even more fun when they are wildly wrong! XD
SO THAT’S A WRAP FOLKS. Was this ~aesthetic~ post fun? Should I do something like this again? I mean I found it to be fun so I probably will BUT I LOVE FEEDBACK.

I love mood boards and aesthetic posts! How each person interprets and connects with the material differently. There can be so many unique creations. Great post!
