Hey all! So a long time ago (Like back in December) Rin over at Under Covers tagged me in the To Be Read Tag. As you know, life just tends to get in the way whenever some thing fun comes along (lol), but here I am, ready and raring to share this tag with all of you!
Goodreads (of course) is my generic answer for this one. When I was younger I used to have these sprawling lists in various notebooks that resulted in torn pages sitting in stacks around my room. One of my favorite things was to look up a book on Amazon and then see what other people bought–this method led me to a lot of very good books in the days before I discovered Goodreads. Now? I’m drowning in unread books, so thanks a lot Goodreads?
My TBR is entirely bring books I suppose, since I don’t have an e-Reader. I don’t really have anything against them, they just aren’t for me I guess. I spent a summer trying to read the Hunger Games trilogy on my mom’s iPad and I got was a headache and a crappy reading experience. So, e-Readers begone (from my life)!
Although there are many-a-book and many-a-series that have been on my TBR for A LONG time, I think that the title of this one goes to the Time Quintet by Madeline L’Engle (most famous for the first book, A Wrinkle in Time). I read A Wrinkle In Time when I was nine years old, and I have never stopped wanting to finish the series. I even own all of the books! Shame on me.
According to my Goodreads list, the most recent book that I added to my TBR is the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play that is being released this summer (I’m actually internally screaming about this one GAHHHHH). As for actual novels, the most recent add is Escaping Perfect by Emma Harrison. Although I’ve been trying to avoid contemporary lately, this one is described as having a Gone Girl twist, so I’m sold!
I was about to type that I don’t really have an answer for this one because my reading experience is so focused on the actual content of the book, but then I remembered A Thousand Pieces of You. For real, go check out the cover.
I went through a phase last year around this time when I attempted to clear out my TBR. Needless to say, I didn’t get very far. So that means that there are A LOT of books on my TBR that I honestly don’t plan on reading anymore, but I suppose that the one that I will pick for this is Alienated by Melissa Landers. The cover is very immature, it just doesn’t sound interesting, and none of my Goodreads friends rated it highly. (Never gonna read it).
Ahhhhh there are so many!!! I suppose I’ll just pick one at random, which is: The Loose Ends List by Carrie Firestone. This contemporary YA follows the summer of recent high school grad Maddie as she travels the world with her family. I love travel novels, and I love the not quite NA but still sorta YA age range that this book fits into perfectly.
Oh so many books fall into this category, but for this one I’m going to pick anything and everything written by Cassandra Clare. Way back in the day when City of Bones was released I read it and really like it–I just never continued on with the series or prequel series or subsequent series in the same universe. Basically I’m the worst fangirl ever. Anyway the entire YA book community is obsessed with these novels, and they are one of the things that I want to tackled this summer.
I was just listening to Aneeqah & Willa & Emily’s new podcast “A Novel Chat” (Go check it out) and they brought up an really important addition to the YA sphere called All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely, which is about two young teenaged boys of different races dealing with racism in the police force in their neighborhood. Apparently, it’s supposed to be really good–which is why I want to go buy it immediately!!!
Basically everything for this one, but especially A Tyranny of Petticoats: 15 Stories Belles, Bank Robbers, & Other Badass Girls. This has been on my TBR since it was first announced and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy because it was published earlier this week!!!!! Lots of awesome authors contributed stories, such as Marissa Meyer, Beth Revis, and Marie Lu.
There are, as of this second, 1858 books on my TBR. Oh jeez oh jeez oh jeez. The worst part is? I own more of them than I’d like to admit.

Thank you for tagging me, Mary! About the ereader thing — I also thought ereaders really weren’t my thing, but I bought a Kindle for my birthday and it’s just been so useful. Although I definitely get the headache when staring at an iPad for a long time, but some Kindles have this eInk technology that makes it look as though you’re reading a page and it doesn’t make your head hurt.
But printed books will also have that extra little bit of magic for me. ♥
I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE CURSED CHILD. I’m really happy they’re making it available to those who can’t fly out to London to see the play!
Omg you do have a LOT on your to-read shelf, don’t you?! XD I was deleting a whole bunch off goodreads the other day but…gave up because I HAVE A BOOK ADDICTION, HEHEH. Ahem. And omg the Thousand Pieces of You cover is divine. Same as the sequel! And Alienated definitely wasn’t amazing. Funny? Quirky? But not like “wow this is a book everyone must read”. ?
OH OH and the Loose Ends List DOES look amazing! I can’t wait for that one either!!
